Advance Realty’s Riverbend District Enhanced by March 20 Opening of Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.
As the New York Red Bulls open up Red Bull Arena this Saturday with a match against Brazilian club Santos FC, the residents of Harrison, N.J. — the location of the new, 25,000-seat arena — have reason to celebrate. The grand opening of Red Bull Arena marks a significant milestone in the redevelopment of Harrison, which is undergoing a transformation thanks to the combination of the new soccer arena and Advance Realty’s Riverbend District, one of the largest Brownfield mixed-use, redevelopment transit districts underway in New Jersey.
Advance, a leading Northeast U.S. owner and developer of Class A office and mixed-use properties, has been closely monitoring the opening of Red Bull Arena as the leading developer continues work around the stadium on the Riverbend District, which, when complete, will include more than 800,000 square feet of retail space, including an anchor grocery and retailers; a 16-screen cinema and notable restaurants; a 175-room limited service hotel and a 350-room, full-service hotel with 25,000 square feet of conference space; a wellness center; corporate and boutique office space; and approximately 2,000+ for sale and rental residential units.
In time for Red Bull Arena’s opening on Saturday, Advance recently completed the installation of underground utilities, sidewalks, roadways, streetlights and traffic signals at the Riverbend District.
“This weekend’s opening of Red Bull Arena is an exciting time for the people of Harrison, as well as us at Advance Realty,” stated Peter Cocoziello, president and CEO of Advance Realty. “Having a world-class entertainment venue such as Red Bull stadium directly accessible by the Riverbend District will greatly enhance the appeal of the 24/7 destination that we are creating here.”
As a transit-oriented community, the Riverbend District is within close proximity to multiple modes of mass transit, including N.J. Transit, Amtrak and a centrally located, onsite PATH station that will benefit from a $180 million renovation program to improve service, allowing easy access to Newark Penn Station. The district is also only 15 minutes by train to Manhattan, is highly accessible by all major roadways in Northern New Jersey, and is just minutes from Newark Liberty International Airport via rail service or car.
“Surrounding Red Bull Arena with an easily accessible, mixed-use project will go a long way toward helping the Town of Harrison meet its goals of enhanced economic development and improved quality of life for all residents,” stated Cocoziello. “This is one of the most exciting redevelopment projects that Advance Realty has ever undertaken. We’ve already received great feedback from local residents, and we’re very confident that the market, people of Harrison and the rest of the New York Metropolitan Area will be extremely pleased with the destination location taking shape here.”
